As the title suggests, this bird calls upon rain to come. The metaphor of the bird and the rain signifies positive change, growth and development in life. Life has seasons just as the weather.

He is amongst the first generation of Zimbabwean sculptors to achieve international exposure and acclaim. His career as a sculptor begun in 1967 when he joined the Tengenenge Sculptor Community under Tom Blomefield.
Born in 1942, Sylvester Mubayi is a revered old man. His life and work is guided by Shona culture and beliefs. As an elder he teaches and advises the young in the community through metaphor and storytelling – and his sculptures always tell a story as well.
