India has expressed interest in partnering Zimbabwe in the growth of information communication technologies (ICT).
The call was made at the Zimbabwe-India ICT Conference held in the capital under the theme, “Zimbabwe – India Bridging the Digital Divide” where a business delegation from the Indian ICT sector met with local players.
The Confederation of Indian Industrialists (CII) is in the country at the invitation of the Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Rungsung Masakui to network with local ICT players and the relevant ministry for potential business ventures.
Ambassador Masakui said the platform was to enable the cooperation of stakeholders in the ICT in both countries to create an environment that encourages rewards for entrepreneurship.
ICT and Courier Services Minister Kazembe Kazembe called on Zimbabwean youths to champion the growth of the ICT sector by coming up with creative and innovative ideas which will be supported by the industry and government.
Zimbabwe and India have ties in various sectors including a partnership with the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) in the ICT area.
More than 25 representatives from 80 percent of India’s ICT sector attended the conference.
