Description
Simba Mudhokwani was born in 1972. He comes from the Gwata village of Neguwo within the Marondera district Zimbabwe. He started off his career as an assistant sculptor in 1997 for Jeffrey Chirume. Then he would only wash and polish Jeffery’ fine art sculptures of animals which were usually depictions of elephants, rhinos and giraffes.
His career as a sculptor was inspired by his father Farai Mudhokwana and his two brothers Wellington and Farai who weaved and sold reed baskets for a living. Presently Simba works as a stone sculptor curving magnificent animal figurines on hard rocks such as the semi-precious verdite stone, cobalt stone, spring stone and dolomite. He is married with 3 children.
